BIO:
David Langlois was born in Paris, France, where he took up the drum set at age fifteen. David performed in several jazz and throughout France and Switzerland.
At 21 years old, Mr. Langlois was hired as a full time musician , to play the washboard and the drum set. It was at this time, that David invented his signature washboard instrument, and polished his washboard technique, which immediately attracted several avenues of professional work.
David performed internationally, playing at the highly esteemed, Montreux Jazz Festival, and numerous other festivals in France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Italy in 1993, David founded his own four pieces band, “Sun Side Jazz Band”, inspired by New Orleans jazz, which later branched out to include Bossa Nova and Variety music, performing at concerts and festivals throughout France and Switzerland. In 1998, the band released their first album, “Sun Side in the Street”, organized, arranged, interpreted, performed and produced by Mr. Langlois. His second album with Sun Side, “Swingin’ Leman” was soon released in 2000. During his years with Sun Side Jazz Band, David traveled a lot in Africa especially Senegal where he collaborated with various bands as a freelance percussionist. On djembe (African drum), and drum set, he played African rhythms for “African Style Band”, Further working with ethnic rhythms, David had the privilege of collaborating in the rhythm section of salsa at the music school AMR, in Geneva, directed by Michel Bastet.
In 2004, David traveled to New York, where he had the privilege of playing with Dorado Schmitt, Paquito de Rivera , Angelo Debarre, Brian Torff, Scott Robinson, Gil Goldstein, Andrew Sherman, Orrin Star, Stephane Wrembel, John Jorgensen…. He played as a special guest at the Django Reinhardt Festival at the world reknown jazz venue, “Birdland”, as well as “Lincoln Center NYC”, … and other festivals including Djangofest Northeast, Chili Pepper Fiesta (Botanical Garden, Brooklyn), Namm Show, SXSW in Austin Texas, Django fest of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Alabama, New York... He performed at Satalla, Crash Mansion, Fada and Rocksoff. Recently, he was invited by Andrew Sherman, in association with Fluid recording studios in New York, to play on the New York Lottery jingle. His latest recording with Stephane Wrembel and the Hot Club of New York, recorded in October 2005, will be released in October 2006. The 2004 New York Django Fest.
